Get in the Notting Hill Carnival spirit at this year’s edition of chef and writer Riaz Phillips’ warm-up dinner. Hosted at Jumbi in Peckham, a hi-fi bar and restaurant known for celebrating the sounds and flavours of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora, the meal will be a collaboration with Rahel Stephanie, who runs Indonesian supper club Spoons. Expect a menu of jerk chicken with tamarind; marinated tempeh skewers; and bakabana (an Indonesian-Surinamese dessert of battered and fried plantain). As for drinks, there’ll be a rum punch granita, as well as plenty of Red Stripe and Guinness. The event is in aid of the Grenfell Foundation and all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards supporting those affected by the tragedy.
