The Lexington housed on a corner along Pentonville Road is one of the coolest bars in the area. Inside the decor is simple but effective, antlers are mounted on the wall, lampshades hang from the ceiling, and the furniture is a selection of mix match table and chairs. The bar is packed with bourbons and whiskeys, one of the best displays in London with prices reaching as much as £50 for a single Weller 19 year old rare whiskey. The have an ace selection of beers on draft along with an impressive selection of American beers.
LondOnTheInside pondered along for the Monday night quiz and whilst we were there we sampled some of the food. The menu caters for small plates like Toasted Vegetable Fajita Quesadillas with Salsa & Guacamole or Fresh Mussels with Cider & Lovage. But it was the ‘Burgers’ that got our attention with the The Lexington Burger – Ground Steak, Cheddar, Onions, Lettuce, Tomato and Aioli served with Chips. At 7.95 on the menu it’s at the top end of the burger dividend especially as you have Byron just a short walk away.
The chips were ace! Hand cut, they were crisped to perfection. The burger was just as impressive, jammed to the brim it still managed to pass the soggy bun test and stayed intact to the very last bite. The one grumble we did have was that it could have been hotter as it tended to get cold fairly quick.
If you’re looking for somewhere to grab some pub grub and hang with the cool kids the Lex is where it’s at.
