If you’re looking for a bowls-out good night, the newest bar in the O2 might be just the place for you. Brooklyn Bowl, the hipper-than-hip NYC venue has arrived in London and with 12 bowling lanes, a kick arse restaurant and an 800-capacity concert space, you’re guaranteed to ‘score’ some points with whoever you take there.
Making you feel like you’ve just stepped into Williamsburg, the all-American menu is provided by the Bromberg Bros. Blue Ribbon restaurants. Dishes like Jumbo Sandwiches, French Bread Pizzas and Fried Chicken can be delivered straight to your lane (although the menu does suggest eating with your non-bowling hand if doing so) or devoured in the restaurant, which also offers a weekend brunch menu.
The Coney Island themed décor will give you plenty to feast your eyes on if you’d rather spend your evening perched at one of the three bars. We loved the rum punch but those feeling U.S.Adventurous should check out the Bourbon St Shake which comes with Nutella and a shot of Bourbon. The ladies loos provide a brilliant view of the stage and lanes so once the gigs start, it could become the best seat in the house!
While these elements contribute to the All-American vibe, the fact that owner Peter Shapiro has chosen to stock beers from the local Meantime Brewing Company (alongside the obvious Brooklyn Lager) and source UK suppliers for all the food ensures Brooklyn Bowl still has its own London identity. We’ll be back, ‘cos that’s just how we roll.
