Stafford London by Kempinski have launched a brand new Afternoon Tea inspired by traditional and quintessentially British baking. Served in The Lyttelton lounge we trotted along with mother in tow and relaxed in the comfort of these elegant surrounds. Just the walk up feels like unearthing a secret, hidden away in a corner of St James’s.

Starting the afternoon with a glass of Prossecco is always a winner. We choose the ‘Lady Lyttelton Afternoon Tea’, named in honour of owner of the main house Lady Sarah Lyttelton. Service is the utmost professional and you find yourself really pronouncing your P’s and Q’s. The tier of treats arrives and it’s boom, you’re instagraming before your mother can say put that phone away. Highlights include the signature Lady Lyttelton cake, the ‘Tipsy’ cake (aptly named with layers of jams, cream and a tipple of Madeira reminiscent of the cakes enjoyed by ladies during the Victorian era didn’t you know), edible dark chocolate teacup, petite crayfish sandwich and the warm, fluffy scones.
