you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam soon, then you should definitely consider The Hoxton which has just opened it’s doors in the city. This is the first Hoxton outside of London and they’ve done an amazing job of converting what was once the home of the mayor way back in the 17th century into a beautiful 111 room hotel…the whole place is looking seriously swish.

The hotel is perfectly located for city sightseeing, right on the Herengracht canal and many of the rooms look out on to the waterways that Amsterdam is so famous for. The rooms are beautifully designed, with nicely chosen vintage furniture, wooden floors, super comfy beds, en-suite bathrooms, and quirky design features from the original building such as ceiling beams and slanted walls in the attic rooms. There’s even a couple of monumental ceilings which have been lovingly restored.

The rest of the place isn’t looking half bad either and downstairs you’ll find Lotti’s, run in partnership with Soho House serving up Italian inspired dishes with some local Dutch additions (we ate FAR too much Bitterballen on our visit!). Then there’s the bar with comfy sofas and cracking cocktails – the bar men come from some of the best bars in The Dam and we can fully recommend all the cocktails especially the Sandy Dutchman. There’s also a cosy mezzanine lounge where you can enjoy everything from coffee to cocktails throughout the day and night.

With rates starting at 89 Euros which includes free Wifi, water and a breakfast bag drop filled with local snacks, The Hoxton, Amsterdam is well worth checking out – you’d be a DAM fool not too.
