a breakfast/brunch joint in stokie that get’s the mix right between hearty hangover essentials and healthy, carb watching, slim trim look at me I go jogging types of food. The Haberdashery’s second joint recently opened it’s doors on Stoke Newington High Street and we were bang in there Sunday to give it a run through.

First good sign, it’s rammed, as in the kitchen aren’t taking orders because they are catching up, we see this as a good thing. Luckily there’s a table free and we order tea, coffee served in a bowl and fresh juices named after our fav festivals. Nice.

So the breakfast baguette has stolen the show for us, not because we are hungover, we are not, we’ve been dry for over 48 hours thank you very much. But because it sounds awesome. Scrambled egg, bacon, sausage and homemade tomato jam in a crunchy, locally baked baguette. WINNER!

While we wait we ogle at the homemade muffins, brownies and other cakes. Other breakfasts come and go as waiters fly past teasing us with a glimpse of food. Finally it arrives and we’re straight in.

The verdict, the ingredients can’t be knocked, organic, locally sourced and tasty as hell cooked and presented well. Our grumbles; the jam should be on the side as it’s tastes a bit too sweet, also it’s a half baguette not a whole one, and coming in at £7.50 it seems a little over priced – knock a quid off perhaps?

Still it’s good food, and given it’s only week two they are coping well. We have a feeling next time will be a coffee and muffin job…
