Super Pizza is the latest offering from the people behind Giant , RobotTiny Robot and various other places in London. Located on Brick Lane the café-bar tries hard to fit in with its cool location, in fact it tries so hard it misses the basics….
The idea is you order and pay at the bar then take a seat, but after looking for a menu on the tables, the bar and the chalk board we guessed it must, as the name suggests be just pizza.
There were two types of pizza on offer, Mushroom and Truffle Oil and Fig and Goats Cheese. Another couple arrived and were shown a menu or rather where the menu was, in a photo frame on a wall nowhere near the bar. There are actually a few other things on it. Note – If your going to try and be cool by doing quirky things always explain this to customers, especially if you have just opened…..
We also had a grumble at our glass of coke which was literally a splash of coke over ice – not cool! We sat at a dirty table (not that we had a choice they were all dirty), and when no one came to clean it we did it ourselves. We then watched the staff clear plates from other tables, add some new napkins but still not bother to wipe them clean – note dirty tables are NOT COOL!
So after all of this we didn’t hold much hope for the Pizza but actually it was flipping great. The combination of flavours worked well together and it was honestly some of the best Pizza we have tasted in London. And at only £3.50 for a large portion it’s also really good value.
So would we go back? Perhaps for take out!
