#steaksecret is the new American dining experience taking place at the JW Steakhouse in Mayfair. The experience involves a dinner lead by Head Chef Julian in the restaurant’s private room, a room which has walls covered in photos of celebs who have visited the steakhouse, some in the steakhouse some not – oh look there’s Obama giving a speech!
The experience starts with a back alley entrance on Upper Grosvenor Street, don’t worry it’s on a street in Mayfair, you’re perfectly safe! Once inside you are treated to popcorn and cocktails before being led to the dining room – feels a little like walking through the kitchens in The Witches movie.
There’s 7 courses to get through and it’s no easy task, they are HUGE. Julian is on hand to talk you through each course – our highlights included the Parker House rolls, yes they might just be bread rolls but they were ADDICTIVE, oyster Rockafella, a deep fried oyster on a bed of creamed spinach and the mini donuts filled with peanut butter and vanilla milkshake for dipping.
Oh and the meats, well we tried three different cuts including the signature Tomhawk and the Wagayu but the Short Rib stole the show, as soft as butter and full of flavour. Just to make sure you’re brimming there’s Onion Rings, Lobster Mac n Cheese, triple cooked Chips and Creamed Spinach served as sides.
Make sure you pick up one of the infamous Cheesecakes on the way out, they are mega and you can always eat it the next day. Let’s face it the diets already ruined. Definitely one for the Go hungry or go home category.
