LOTI EATS: SARDINE

sardine-LOTI

Sardine is a new restaurant sort-of-but-not-quite from Stevie Parle who also has Dock Kitchen, Rotorino, and Craft, all of which are excellent. For Sardine, he’s backing one of his previous chefs Alex Jackson, who’s going out on his own after leading the way at both Dock Kitchen and Rotorino. Sardine is located in the Parasol Gallery, just off the top of City Road in Angel, behind that big McDonalds drive thru we’re sure everyone knows about it.

The menu is largely French though there’s bits of influence drawn from further afield too. We were pretty pleased with everything we ordered so can definitely recommend the broad beans on toast and the pork and veal stuffed tomato for starters. Then you’ve got to have the amazing lamb with white beans and green sauce – a real winner. Dessert was probably our favourite of the night. The chocolate pot with brandy prune was excellent but best of all was the apricot galette, washed down with a glass of sweet Ambré Rivesaltes.

Sardine is a great addition to the neighbourhood and well worth checking out.
