China is a small chain of Chinese restaurants with 6 London locations. The restaurants specialise in Dim Sum but it’s only served until 5pm. We just missed out on a recent visit to the Baker Street branch so opted to try some of the signature dishes.

Starting with Vietnamese Pancake Rolls, crispy stubs generously filled with prawn and pork and the Steamed Chilli Pork Dumplings, small parcels stuffed with a lightly spiced meaty mixture. For mains the sauteed prawns with red chilli sauce ‘szechuan style’ were juicy morsels coated in a sticky, spicy chilli sauce. Sauteed beef with chilli and black bean sauce came served with crunchy peppers and onions which combined with the tender meaty strips and gooey sauce worked a treat. Egg fried rice was light and fluffy without any trace of grease and the Chinese Broccoli with garlic was plenty crunchy and full of flavour.

Overall a great meal, the food was fresh and tasty and we’re big fans of the wine list. Do watch the bill mind, it’s surprising how quickly it mounts up with the 13% service charge.
