BBQ food is having its day and new joint Porky’s on Chalk Farm Road has a menu serving just that. Created purposely to bring a taste of American diners, drive-ins and dives to Camden you can expect big and rich flavours of Memphis inspired BBQ that means their big on meat, craft beers and classic Tennessee tunes.

Skipping lunch that day on the bases we’d be in for one hell of a feast we rocked up as keen as mustard…and a little light headed. The place looks more than inviting, the folding windows fully open allowing tables to be right on the street. Alfresco that right up!

For starters the BBQ popcorn was spicy as hell and damn right addictive whilst the pulled pork croquettes, were three lightly crumbed parcels of full flavoured meat. A perfect warm up.

To follow Memphis ribs and tips are forearm thick wedges of meat glazed in a sticky, sweet homemade bbq sauce – our only grumble was the meat wasn’t as tender as we’d of liked. Our other main was the pulled pork, smoked for a total of 18 long and juicy hours you can have this straight up or get a cheeky bun to house it in. For sides we rocked the sweet potato fries and your bog standard fries with spicy homemade sauce.

Desserts took us over the edge, the rich chocolate brownie sundae, which we couldn’t finish and the Cherry Pie with ice-cream. There’s no denying it you’ll be leaving Porky’s a little porky all right…
