Anight out in Camden after a few drinks often leads to two thing…food and gigs. Poppies fish and chips…or fish and gigs is here to offer you a new experience on your Friday and Saturday evenings. Their post war set up housed in their Camden town branch, the other being Spitalfields, is an eclectic mix of decor – We even spotted the dog from HMV in there.
With an East End feel the Camden joint sits nicely among its peers and with Pop behind the wheels you are in safe hands for all your fishy delights, golden chips, jellied eels and homemade mushy peas. Impressive portions and lots of choice from curry sauce and pickled onions to big fat slices of bread and butter.
Upstairs is where the action takes place on Friday and Saturday nights with bands playing everything from rock’n’roll to blues and jazz. It’s worth a trip up there just to see the space, gazze out the window at the passersby below and well who says no to a fish supper? Go on, just for the halibut. What’s more these gigs are free, it’s only hake rattle and roll people and we like it like it yes we do!
