LOTI EATS: PETIT POIS

 petit pois loti

Petit Pois (that’s little pea in French) is the latest restaurant to open its doors on Hoxton Square. Located above Happiness Forgets and run by the same team, the intimate restaurant serves up a small menu of classic French dishes – Croque Monsieur, steak and frites, and moules mariniere all make an appearance. Whilst the restaurant may have only opened a month or so ago (June 2016) it’s already had rave reviews in a couple of big newspapers, which explains why when we visited on a Friday evening it was fully booked.

We managed to score an early table by the door, starting our dinner with a couple of the house cocktails, the poached egg on black pudding with pancetta in red wine sauce, and the moules mariniere. We followed with steak and frites and the star of the show, the super soft sole meunière. When in Rome…or Petit Pois, Hoxton Square. We ended with THAT velvety chocolate mousse served from a huge bowl at the table, and yes, it really is bloody good.

The website describes Petit Pois as “uncomplicated French food at affordable prices” and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves….
