Been burning the candles at both ends? Need to escape the city for some R&R but without the stress of travelling too far? Then we’ve found the perfect place for you, Pennyhill Park.
Located in Bagshot, Surrey the five-star hotel is really just a short car journey West of central London. Set in 123 acres of parkland the hotel is like a mini village with spa, two restaurants including one with two Michelin stars, its own bakery and golf course. There’s also a new kitchen garden with it’s own honey bees and numerous plants and flowers.
The individually designed rooms are spacious and in keeping with the traditional tudor buildings the decor is classic, even the newly refurbed rooms have an air of grandeur with big curtains, four poster beds, dressing tables and huge bathrooms with walk-in shower and bath.
The spa is huge, there’s eight in door and outdoor pools – the indoor one is quite something with underwater music – numerous therapy rooms and enough day beds to accommodate everyone. Treatments wise, there’s everything you need to walk away feeling like a new person, we had the Rose Damask and Detox Body Scrub, a 60 minute treatment, during which ever part of our body was scrubbed and moisturised before ending with a scalp massage.
The spa stays open until 10pm too which is pretty handy if you arrive late. For dinner we ate in the Brasserie, which features a daily changing menu of seasonal produce. Make sure you get the cheese board, made up of 8 different English cheeses.
Breakfast is another grand affair, we took ours in bed and opted for a selection of cold and hot dishes. So much choice. We’re not gonna lie we were sad to leave Pennyhill Park, it’s a little bit of bliss that feels a million miles away from city life, oh and the service is impeccable, we’d even go as far to say it’s the best service we’ve ever experienced…
