We’ve been wanting to try Nopi’s Shakshuka eggs for a long time – especially since the last time we visited they were waved in front of our faces before being told we had to evacuate due to the fire alarm. So last week we finally got to try those eggs and we can confirm that they live up to the hype.
Nopi is the latest offering from Ottolenghi, located in Soho the restaurant offers quite an unusual breakfast menu as well as an all day small dishes menu. Inside the decor is flash and the toilets are worth at least two visits per dining experience – its like being in Alice in Wonderland – just be careful not to open the wrong door, who knows what it might lead to!
There are plenty of fresh juices on offer, filtered water is free and the coffee is cracking. The Shakshuka eggs served in a small pan are two braised eggs on top of smoked labneh and piquante tomato sauce served with two pieces of toasted focaccia. At £11 they aren’t cheap but the portion is huge and the eggs are rather special. Go on treat yourself!
