joint Murakami opened in Covent Garden early 2015 serving everything from sushi and sashimi to tempura prawns and grilled meats. It’s defo what you’d call a crowd-pleasing menu alright and with that in mind we ordered more than a “few” dishes.

We bagged a table overlooking the kitchen where we could see the food being freshly prepared and cooked to order. Marinated tuna salad with sesame seeds and grapefruit got things off to a punchy start, followed by lightly battered tempura prawns – 5 in total and for just £7.50 it’s pretty good value. Other highlights included crunchy asparagus with miso sauce cooked on the Robatayaki grill, soft shell crab rolls with avocado and the fresh seafood dumplings.

For a quick Japanese fix in Central London that won’t break the bank Murakami is a good bet.
