Nadra has recently flown North opening a sibling to his popular Chiswick restaurant in Primrose Hill. Located on the pretty Gloucester Avenue the new restaurant features a Martini Bar, garden and two dining rooms, one of which is a little less formal and benefits from floor to ceiling windows with views over the garden.

We went along on Sunday for a late lunch and it was more or less a full house. As well as a page of A’ la Carte starters the menu also features a Ceviche and Tempura section – very on trend we know! We started with a Salmon Ceviche, a thick slice of smoked salmon coated in a punchy, zesty juice with avocado pieces and sweet potato puree. Whilst another starter of black tiger prawn, scallop and chive dumplings, broccoli and spinach veloute with crisp shallots was a well thoughout dish, the juicy dumplings floating in a rich, creamy sauce. For mains we went for the Pork Belly Sunday Roast, a little posher than our usual preference of roasting the dish came with a nice slab of meat, roast tatties, parsnips, carrots, broccoli, spinach red wine gravy and the all important homemade yorkshire pud. Ten out of Ten for trimmings. Our only grumble was the meat had a fair bit of bone underneath and the crackling wasn’t crisped, that said it was a tasty dish and pretty far up on the roast dinner scale.

For dessert we tried the Treacle Tart served with double cream and blackberry sorbet which was suprisingly light. A thin crispy base topped with a light, sweet custard style filling. If you don’t fancy a roast there is also a Weekend Brunch Menu which runs until 2pm and includes a posh nosh take on the Full English and Breakfast Martinis – so NYC baby!

Given its enviable location, pleasant setting and varied menu, with dishes and prices to suit most tastes, we have a feeling Michael Nadra’s Primrose Hill joint will do very well indeed.
