Francis Hotel located in the city of Bath has just had a facelift, a £6 million pound facelift. The hotel, made up of 7 townhouses which date back to the 18th century re-opened in May this year. We took a trip on First Great Western, 1.5 hours West to the historic city to see what the hotel had to offer.

From the outside the hotel looks impressive, the big stone buildings fit in well with the historic city, and the rotating wooden door adds a bit of old school glamour. Inside is modern and chic, there are bright wallpapers, heals style furniture, quirky light fittings, a lovely lounge and bar area and just 98 rooms. Check-in was fast and easy, our room was a “Feature Room” located on the second floor.

The room was simple and bright with two windows, a four poster bed, Nespresso machine, power shower, free WiFi, TV and the all important robes! The bed was uber comfy, with a quilt underneath the bottom sheet which made it feel like we were sleeping on a bed of feathers.

Whilst the hotel doesn’t have it’s own restaurant Brasserie Blanc is joined onto the building and the lounge area serves afternoon tea and an impressive selection of cocktails. Breakfast is served in the basement, which is spacious and features a continental buffet as well as a selection of hot dishes available to order. We went for the Pancakes with bacon which were fluffy and light served with a generous portion of thick bacon.

The hotel itself is located in the historic Queen Square and there really isn’t a better location for visitors to the city, it’s a five minute walk to all of the tourist attractions and the shops, the open-top bus stops just outside and it’s close to the beautiful Victoria Park with an ACE crazy golf course.
