with the old and in with the new, May Fair Kitchen has had a bit of a revamp; those white tablecloths have been replaced by some flashy marble and copper surfaces and the old school fine dining offering has been replaced by a Mediterranean sharing plates menu. Taking inspiration from Spain and Italy, the tapas style menu includes a selection of antipasti, salads, pizza, pasta, risotto, seafood and meat & poultry. So we popped down to share a few dishes and sip a few cocktails..because when in Mayfair.

With such an extensive menu we were really spoilt for choice, so went for a selection across the board. Each dish arrived from the kitchen as and when it was ready and, for us the real standouts were the Jerusalem artichoke risotto with truffle oil, the seared tuna with caponata and the cooked to perfection Gremolata crusted lamb cutlets. But don’t forget to save room for dessert because the melt in the middle chocolate fondant with amaretti and ice cream is pretty good.

Fine dining might still be at the heart of this place, with attention to detail being everything, but a new menu and shiny new interior gives this place a new lease of life that anyone can get on board with, Mayfair local or not.
