MASH Steakhouse opened late last year in the heart of Soho after securing its position as one of the top steak restaurants in Copenhagen. The glitzy restaurant is huge with no less than 300 seats, a spacious bar area and fridge fully stocked with cuts of meat.
We started with a drink at the bar and it’s fair to say the cocktail list is pretty impressive as are the bar tenders. For us it was all about the 5 Dollar Milkshake, a mixture of bourbon, amaretto, vanilla ice-cream, popcorn and salted caramel – we know it’s wrong starting with an ice-cream cocktail in such a fine establishment but if they did it in Pulp Fiction then who are we to say otherwise…
Once seated we were given a quick show and tell at the meat fridge before diving in for the fillet. Having skipped starters we went all out on the sides ordering onion rings, fried jalapenos, chilli fries, tomato and onion salad and creamed spinach. Full marks for the food; the juicy steak was perfectly tender, onion rings were huge, crispy beasts, chilli fries well seasoned whilst the fried jalapenos added a fiery flavour.
We ended with the crack cocaine like fluffy, light profiteroles served with a generous jug of hot chocolate sauce and more ice-cream. We had ace time at MASH and we’d happily go back, the one thing we will say is on quieter nights the restaurant does lack atmosphere, the clientele is mostly made up of gents suited and booted but as long as you’re with good company you’ll not even notice.
