East in Spitalfields opened late last year and is the second Mexican joint for the company who still have a restaurant on Villiers Street and started as a taqueria joint in Mexico City many moons ago.

The laid back eatery has a good selection of signature cocktails and serves a huge amount of variations on dishes – there are no less than 11 taco fillings on offer! Food comes out pretty fast and it’s all served fresh and made to order. The menu does feature bigger dishes but we’d recommend sticking to the smaller ones and sharing, well it’s on trend isn’t it?

We started with the Totopos Clasicos, homemade nachos with Gaucamole, crème fraiche, salsa Chipolte and topped with crumbled cheese. All good in the hood. Other highlights included the Gringa, a mix of well seasoned, tender pork and cheese, topped with Pineapple, coriander and onion served with three tacos. A steak Burrito was a huge affair, crammed with usual, whilst Churros with Chocolate were moreish sweet treats served piping hot fresh from the fryer.

For good value Mexican food which is fast and fresh you might want to check out Lupita
