Loungeloveris bang on trend with its vintage style decor, quirky cocktails and tapas menu…only this cocktail bar has being doing it since 2003. Talk about ahead of the game! Located on the site of an old Meat Packing factory the laid back cocktail joint boasts neon signs, decadent chandeliers, cosy dens and clutter that would put your posh nan to shame.
The cocktail menu reads like a book, in fact you could probably go there every weekend and never have the same cocktail twice. There’s a seasonal section, classics, old favourites, sweeties and various other weird and wonderful categories meaning there really is a cocktail to suit every person’s mood. The date ordered a Happy Endings and we knew exactly what he was after…an explosion of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries built over crushed ice and smothered in Marquis Vodka, that apparently will “leave you smiling like a Cheshire cat”.
Other favourites included the Loungelover, a combo of Loungelover Fig Liqueur, sweet vanilla and zesty lemon oil finished with Loungelover Champagne. Other bars are knocking these up now so you can only imagine the reaction it got 10 years ago…even in Shoreditch.
From the food menu we tried the Salmon Ceviche with avocado and coconut milk, whilst not your typical authentic ceviche it was still a tasty, fresh dish. Pork Belly came served in a generous portion of small chunks of meat and the Onion and Potato pakora was another huge portion, well spiced and piping hot. In fact given the price tag of the dishes it’s fair to say it’s pretty good value.
Take a date, take a mate or bring the party – it’s a good solid all rounder but you might want to book as the secrets been out for a while. Oh yeah and it’s 2 for 1 cocktails from 5pm – 8pm everyday – We’re defo lovers of Loungelover…
