J + A Cafe is hidden up a small alley way in Clerkenwell, unless you knew it was there you’d hardly notice the sign. The cafe is based on “traditional family values” in that EVERYTHING is homemade and fresh, from the cakes to the bread. Exposed brick work, a small sunny courtyard complete with bunting, mismatched tables and chairs and the huge selection of cakes and goodies on display make this one of our favourite cafes around.

We’re not sure what we like more – the organic poached eggs on homemade toasted thick bread for only £4 or the homemade pies, quiches, sandwiches and cakes. In fact we’re gonna put our cards on the table and say we like it all.

We do have one grumble though the Coffee isn’t the best so stick with a Tea or juice. Worth a trip to Clerkenwell for the cakes alone which change every day.
