year London had an influx of ramen joints, one of which was Ippudo which opened just a few months ago and is one of the most popular ramen joints in Japan. Set in the St Giles development, the restaurant has a typical Japanese design with lots of reds and blacks. The menu is split into three main parts; starters, ramen and ramen toppings.

There’s four ramen types and when we visited there was a couple of specials. Spicy specials, specials that also came in a 5 x spicier or 10 x spicier option. Obviously we ordered the spicy special 5 times spicier – well we didn’t wanna go too wild. We can confirm it’s the spiciest ramen we’ve ever taste. So HOT we cried. Got flu? This will sort you right out.

We also tried the much safe Akamaru Modern, a big steaming bowl of pork broth with Ippudo’s secret Umami Dama paste, pork belly chashu, bean sprouts, sesame kikurage mushrooms, spring onions and fragrant garlic oil. DELISH.

If you’re after some decent ramen (and why wouldn’t you be in this weather?), make sure you check out Ippudo.
