week we ran a competition to win a meal at the newly refurbed Imli Street, which is back serving Indian street food for brekkie, lunch and dinner. And so we thought it only right we went along to sample to evening menu…

It might be newly reopened but inside was still pretty busy, the simple decor is bang on trend with exposed brickwork, cool lighting and wooden chairs. The menu is split into four parts, the idea is each diner chooses two or three dishes with rices and sides on top.

We were excited to see Chicken 65 on the menu – quick story, fellow blogger in tow lived in Dubai for 3 years, where he and his buds would frequent a small restaurant up to three times a week and got to know the owner. Upon each visit they would order the Chicken 65 only to be refused and talked out of it; ‘No, no, no sir, you can’t have, this is too spicy for you’ the owner would say. Even when he was out his staff were instructed that the Chicken 65 was off the menu for these peeps. So we took full advantage…

Standout dishes were the well seasoned big lamb chunks that packed a punch, served with a small bed of onions. Railroad Lamb curry was full of flavour and tender meatpieces. Butter Chicken Nanwich was probably our favourite, a traditional Indian dish giving a fiery bite. Awesome! The onion bhaji, mint sauce and chutneys completed the meal, oh and as for the Chicken 65 we didn’t even break a sweat in fact it wasn’t even spicy. Imli Street a great way to sample lots of tasty Indian tidbits and like those that have gone before it, Dishoom and Roti Chai it will no doubt be very popular.
