love fish and chips so when we saw the Fishery serving them with the finest wines we thought we’d check it out. The Fishery is located on Stoke Newington High Street and all fish comes fresh from their wet fish shop down the road. Inside is posher than your usual chippie and has a menu to match, offering regulars Cod and Haddock as well as Monkfish, Scampi, Tilapia and catch of the day. There is even fresh oysters on offer. The prices are more expensive than your usual chippie, but they’re doing something different so we think it’s warranted.

We had the scampi and cod, mushy peas, chips, bread and butter, all washed down with a glass of prosecco and a bottle of beer. The fish was a good piece of fresh, tasty cod and the scampi was some of the best we have tasted, juicy and crunchy. The chips were hand cut, non greasy and the added bonus of dining in means you get them straight from the fryer without having to endure the walk home or the park bench.

Not only do they have a wine list they also do homemade desserts think sponge and custard. So if your after something different from your usual fish and chip takeaway, check it out.
