We do love a good bit of sushi and one place you can get authentic Japanese food is Chisou, who now have three Japanese restaurants spread across West London. The Chiswick branch, just off the high-street down a pretty, little cobbled alley is decked out in the traditional ‘izakaya’ which is sleek, stylish and has everything you would expect from a Japanese restaurant.
Getting into the spirit we decided on a selection of dishes, washing them down with a glass or two of the in-house Cherry Blossom Sake – it will help with the pronunciation of the menu, it’s a tricky one!
Our favourites include the ???????? …just in case you are not fluent in Japanese thats Horenso Salad – a spinach salad topped with spicy prawns, sweet carrot, drizzled in a Yuzu vinaigrette and the Soft Shell Karaage – deep friend soft shell crab with a ponzu dip, so good we couldn’t get enough.
The Sushi & Sushi Makis is another must – if you can’t decide what you fancy pick the Tokujyo Sushi and leave it up to the chef who will individually select nine pieces for you to get stuck into. We mean lets face it, he knows best!
We’d also recommend the tender Beef Fillet with Sansobam Peppers and if you have any room for dessert you have to try the silky smooth Green Tea Panna Cotta served with super creamy green tea ice-cream.
Chisou is fab for lunch or dinner with friends or dates, it has a great atmosphere, the staff are incredibly helpful and know the menu inside out, and most importantly the food is really good. So brush up on your chopstick skills and head over there. Kampai!
