a new joint in ‘Little Vietnam’ mixing it up with their Hanoi inspired Bun Cha. Having opening May 2015 on Kingsland Road, BunBunBun bring a modern twist to the hood with 15 different variations of this Vietnamese dish. BunBunBun claim to be one of the only places in the London to serve the Bun Cha Hanoi dish using the exact, traditional methods used on the streets of the Hanoi old quarter, dating back to 1959. The dish itself is made up of grilled fragrant fatty pork (ch?) and patties which are left to marinate in a tangy meat broth, served with crispy spring rolls over a plate of white rice noodle (bún) and herbs. It’s like a cross between a salad and a soup, served at room temperature.

As well as Bun Cha there’s other staple Vietnamese dishes on offer too including huge pancakes filled with chicken and king prawns, which come with salad leaves for wrapping and a host of dips. Then the not so authentic 5-spice beef burger with sweet potato fries – perfect with a cold Vietnamese beer (hey we can’t be culture vultures all of the time).

With huge portions and prices that compete with the neighbours it’s great value too. Go and boon out, it’s a Hanoi of a trip.
