Bounce, the home of ping pong in Holborn may have only been open four weeks but this place is jumping like 21 jump street. From the moment you set foot through it’s doors you’re transported to NYC, it’s a slick three in one venue; you eat, you drink and you play ping pong. London On The Inside took its troops to the party early on a Saturday night and things were already in full swing.
The decor inside is impressive, a bar in the middle, restaurant overlooking the floor and plenty of ping pong tables. To play you need to pay £10 for 30 mins, tables can be pre-booked but there are some designated for walk-ins however you may need to wait – that’s not all bad given the cocktail list. Once you’ve played there is a good chance you’ll have worked up a sweat and appetite – again that’s not all bad given the pizza menu.
We tried three of the pizzas; the pork, salami and goats cheese on thin crust, nine inch, stone baked dough – fresh, crispy and tasty. You might also find the water rather refreshing especially after running around a table for an hour, yes some people in our team mistook table tennis for badminton.
We’re already game for going back, it’s a hell of a night out that can quickly turn into the small hours. You’ll be sore the next day, maybe from the exercise but mostly due to the laughing. Don’t be surprised to find a ping pong ball or two in any bags you have with you, the table closest to us had at least 6 balls in their Selfridges bags that just happened to be on the receiving end of our ferocious back hand.
Book it in people, one of the best nights we’ve had in ages.
