Blue Boar Smokehouse is located in the Westminster Intercontinental hotel which opened late last year. The restaurant is named so because the menu is heavy on the smoked meats. Last month the glitzy joint launched a Sunday Brunch menu with unlimited food, Bucks Fizz and Bloody Mary’s.

We went along to try it out and see just how many desserts we could fit in – it was 6 – beat that suckers! Once you’ve got you’re first drink and ordered you’re main you are free to attack the posh buffet of salads, seafood and meats, we’d recommend taking it back to the 90’s and going for the prawn cocktail. Mains include a varied selection from Eggs Benedict and Sunday Roast to a platter of Pulled Pork and Seabass. We have to admit we were a bit disappointed with our roast but being Northern we have high standards which are hard to match and it lacked any really flavour. Skip it and go for the Pulled Pork…

Finally it’s on to the dessert selection which features just about every dessert you can imagine. This was by far the best course so make sure you leave enough room to try a couple. For us the Rhubarb and Custard slice, Creme Brulee and Chocolate Tarte nailed it. A setting that will no doubt impress the parents and let’s face it we all love a bit of a buffet every now and then.
