most Londoners we can’t get enough of secret hidden bars, and Barts, the quirky speakeasy on Sloane Avenue is currently ticking our boxes. To find the secret door, you have to walk through a large 1930s apartment building until you come to a daunting black door…easily missed, so much so that we walked past it and then walked past it again.

Once you ring the bell, a dubious pair of eyes will peer through the door’s hatch to see if they can squeeze you in (we recommend you book in advance). We felt like naughty school girls trying to sneak into an over 21’s bar. Oh those memories…

Inside, you are treated to a real prohibition era experience, from the dashing / gangster like bar men to the beautifully presented cocktails and quirky décor, we’re talking stuffed animals dotted about, ornate mirrors, chandeliers and a graffiti Mona Lisa painting.

The drinks list is certainly impressive. From the signature Barts Tea served in vintage teapots and teacups, to huge sharing cocktails which are served in big Top Hat shaped vessels, with long straws sticking out – have your Insta at the ready!

Barts also comes with a Cuban themed garden area outside and live performances throughout the weekly, we had a great night being entertained by Piano man Michael Moore and while the drinks flowed, we gave in our fair share of song requests to get the party started. Prince, 1999? We think so…
