For Janice is a new restaurant and bar which opened up last month next to Smithfield Market. In an area that’s mainly dominated by large pubs for the after work crowd, it’s nice to have an option with a bit of style and Ask For Janice certainly looks the part with its white tiles, filament lightbulbs and secret basement bar.

In the upstairs bar room you can settle down for a cocktail – AFJ specialise in gin cocktails and stocks over 50 gins – and a bite to eat from the selection of small plates on offer. Try the lardo on toast with peppers and jalapenos, beef croquettes with mustard, grilled prawns and whipped goats curd.
