After Hours is an evening pop-up with just coffee and dessert on the menu. We went along to Store Street Espresso, the location of choice last month, to see what was on offer.
The
After Hours environment was industrial but homely, extremely relaxed with friendly service. Best of all, everything was unhurried. There was no rush to wolf down your dessert before the next customer arrived. Our table was for 8pm and we didn’t leave until 11:30pm. Maybe it was the all too easy sherry and vermouth cocktails….The menu features 4 desserts, cocktails, truffles and coffee. Each dessert was presented with Michelin standards, beautiful piles of enticing textures, colours and tastes. Simply named Rhubarb, Berry, Honey and Chocolate we were fans of each but the stand outs were Berry – a muddle of blackberries picked, pureed, and ‘parfait’d’ with the insanely delicious smoked vanilla marshmallow. Then there was Rhubarb – a pretty pile of roasted, freeze-dried and pickled rhubarb with fresh yoghurt sorbet, mint, and lemon curd, summer on a plate.
The concept might be simple but we were pretty impressed and if you fancy getting involved you’ll be happy to hear that not only is it back next weekend this time they’ve roped Ben Spalding in which can only mean one thing – killer combo! Tickets cost £30 for a 3-course dessert tasting menu, coffee, petit fours & a glass of Prosecco.
