The team behind cocktail bar MAP Maison is getting into the boutique hotel game
If you like to have your dinner, your cocktails and your bed all under the same roof, then you’ll be pleased to hear that new Haggerston spot La Bibliothèque will have three boutique hotel rooms on site along with a Mediterranean-meets-Japanese restaurant and a very well-stocked bar. The new opening, from the team behind cocktail bar MAP Maison (which is just down the road), is set to be the only luxury accommodation in Haggerston, with the three rooms (opening in December) including luxury bedding, smart TVs, Cole and Lewis toiletries, and in-house MAP Lab bottled cocktails, with one boasting a freestanding tub and two featuring their own kitchenettes.
The restaurant, headed up by James Mayle (ex-Fera at Claridge’s, The Dairy and Relae in Copenhagen), will be serving up menu that blends flavours from the Mediterranean and Japan, with dishes like:
- milk bread with whipped brown miso, toasted sesame and crispy shallot & sake lees butters
- kombu-braised lamb shoulder with whipped onion soubise & fermented negi onion
- steamed turbot with king prawn farci & sauce bouillabaisse
- Tunworth cheese ice cream with balsamic & autumn truffle
Given the MAP Maison team’s involvement, you can be sure the drinks at La Bibliothèque will be point too. The main bar will be shaking up cocktails like the Tokinoka (with Ukiyo rice vodka, clarified pandan & coconut water) and the Memories (with yuzu sorbet, Japanese gin & sparkling sake) as well as boasting a 80-strong gin list, a 150-bottle wine list and a strong sake selection. There’ll even be a members whisky library where you’ll be able to sample the extensive collection, so you certainly won’t be going thirsty.
