Regent’s Park May be Getting a Queen Elizabeth II Memorial

Regent’s Park are preparing to build a new garden to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II

Just over a year since the Queen’s death, Regent’s Park is proposing a memorial garden be built in a disused plant nursery in the heart of the park. The new garden will be built on top of the two-acre space, which will be restructured by landscape architects HTA Design, who are planning to include a new meadow, seating area, lookout tower, pond, terrace and pergola.

The demolition of the plant nursery currently occupying the site is due to take place this spring, while construction of the new garden is provisionally set to start in late 2024. The full garden is expected to open in 2026, coinciding with what would have been the late Queen’s 100th birthday. The Park is still developing proposals for the memorial at the moment, however, and both local residents and visitors to the park have been invited to share their opinions on the design, here.
