Good news for residents of N1 and N16 – there’s a new dynamic reformer Pilates studio in town
Located in the Leroy Building at the junction of Balls Pond Road and Essex Road, this boutique spot features ten brand-new, gleaming reformer machines. With a roster of different teachers, you can mix and match until you find your favourites. Classes cater to all levels, from beginner to advanced, and are grouped into Holistic (beginner), Harmonic (intermediate), Heroic (advanced), Hiraya (stretch and restore), plus pre- and post-natal sessions, along with one-to-one options.
With ten reformers available, you’ve got a good chance of booking a spot, especially while the studio is still fresh on the scene. Class sizes strike a nice balance; big enough to create energy in the room, but small enough that instructors can give personal attention.
Downstairs, you’ll also find a co-working café, which is ideal if you’re slipping out of the office but still need to fire off some emails before or after class. The space itself is bright and airy, flooded with natural light, and offers classes from early morning until late evening.
Hiraya Pilates is a strong new addition to Islington’s wellness scene. It won’t reinvent the reformer but it does deliver a high-quality, thoughtful, and user-friendly studio experience, complete with excellent teachers and, for now, the rare chance to book a bed at the time you actually want.
