RAREBIT TO OPEN IN ELEPHANT & CASTLE

There’s been a lot of development at Elephant Park in Elephant & Castle over the last few years and the new openings just keep coming – Rarebit, founded by Mark Angell and Will Nias, is the latest place to set up shop in the area. The 55 cover (plus 16 on the terrace) all-day kitchen, bar and grocery store has just opened for a soft launch, with chef Liv Lionel (who’s been cooking at Brighton spots The Prince George and Lazy Fin), cooking up a modern British menu, including the namesake rarebit.

Rarebit is focused on quality local produce, so expect coffee from Climpson & Sons, baked goods from Flor, fruit & veg from Natoora, cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy, rare breed meat from The Butchery and London Smoke & Cure, and beer from London Beer Factory. If you don’t fancy a pint, the grocery store stocks an extensive wine selection, which you can buy to take home or drink in for a small corkage fee, and classic cocktails are available from the bar too. And if you drop by before this Saturday at 4pm, you can get 50% off all small plates to mark the soft launch.
