The retro ramen chain is doing a great deal on bowls this autumn
Eating out in London can be a very expensive hobby but there are many fantastic meals to be had at wallet-friendly prices, if you know where to look. And if you love a cheap eat, retro ramen group Ramen Yokocho should defo be on your radar. The two central London locations, on Heddon Street in Mayfair and inside the Japan Centre by Leicester Square, transport you to downtown Tokyo thanks to interiors filled with lanterns, posters, neon signage, lucky cat statues, and classic J-pop on the stereo.
The menu moves beyond the Japanese capital though, showcasing regional ramen from Sapporo Miso ramen in the north right down to Kumamoto Tonkotsu from the south, and plenty of other goodies like katsu curry, soba noodles, takoyaki and yakitori in between. And things are getting even tastier at Ramen Yokocho this autumn as both the Heddon Street and Panton Street restaurants are doing ramen for just £9.99 all day on Mondays and Tuesdays right through to 31st October. Here are the bowls you can get for under a tenner:
- Hakata Tonkotsu, with 12-hour pork broth, hosomen thin & straight noodles, BBQ pork belly, kikurage mushrooms, spring onion, takana mustard, nitamago egg, nori seaweed & red ginger
- Tokyo Shoyu, with soy-based chicken & pork broth, chijire wave noodles, menma bamboo shoots, BBQ pork belly, naruto fish cake, spring onion, nitamago egg & nori seaweed
- Vegan Miso, with miso vegetable broth, hosomen thin & straight noodles, ganmo tofu, menma bamboo shoots, kikurage mushrooms tenderstem broccoli & nori seaweed
And if you want to eat later in the week, both restaurants run a mega happy hour from 3pm – 8pm, Monday – Thursday, where glasses of house wine are £4.50, pints of ice cold Kirin beer are a fiver, Japanese cocktails like Toki highballs and shochu sours come in at £7 and you can get a bottle of house wine for £20.
So whether you’re after a swift solo supper (the Heddon Street site has shuchu aka ‘focus’ booths designed for people to eat alone without distractions) or a group dinner and drinks that won’t break the bank, Ramen Yokocho has you sorted.
