First lit up in 2023, the Ramadan Lights are illuminating the West End for the fourth year running this spring. Set up by the Aziz Foundation, the light display, inspired by Islamic geometric patterns and celestial symbols associated with Ramadan, is made up of more than 30,000 LED bulbs. The lights above Coventry Street will be switched on from 5pm – 5am every night during Ramadan, (which is expected to begin on 18th February) until 18th March. The display will then change from ‘Happy Ramadan’ to ‘Happy Eid’ and be in place until 24th March.
Speaking about the lights, Joe Dobson, Director at The Aziz Foundation, said: “What began as a small idea has grown into a world-leading celebration. This year, The Aziz Foundation is proud to bring Ramadan Lights London back, more vibrant and connected to the city than ever before. We look forward to welcoming both first-time and returning visitors to experience the full programme for themselves.”
