Contemporary sport is causing tsunami like waves through the fashion industry at the moment. The collaboration which encapsulates this whole fashion movement is one of our favourite design duos – Raf Simons x Fred Perry – back together for the 8th time to present ‘Collage – SS13’
The Laurel Wreath Collection features iconic silhouettes from the Perry archives which have been re-worked by Simons with different materials, textures, prints and colours. Boasting cross-over, versatility, Raf Simons x Fred Perry gives the wearer the opportunity to layer and customise solid colours with heavy prints.
A colour palette of deep sea blues are mixed with pops of coral and jungle green. Featuring graphic houndstooth, solid checks, micro florals and bold leopard print, which have clearly defused down from Simons Autumn Winter 13/14 show in Paris.
This short film directed by fellow Belgian, Pierre Debusschere features bright blue eyed models in slow motion ‘dance’ scenes. The stripped back visual and sound showcases the collection simply, blending both high fashion and casual culture together.
Simons says “Collage – SS13 offers a very controlled and pure do-it-yourself attitude. The collection shows a juxtaposition of very different materials, prints and colours, therefore giving the wearer a possibility to combine the garments in different ways.”
What makes the collaboration work is the appreciation that both brands have for each other, Simons respect the heritage that Perry has built to become a powerhouse of British MOD fashion and in return Fred Perry understands the dynamism, simplicity and beauty of Simons collections. It’s a true bromance!
