Queer East is back for its seventh edition this spring, taking over venues across London from 1st May to 6th June 2026. It’s bringing us five weeks of films, shorts, documentaries, live performances, talks and workshops spotlighting queer stories from East and Southeast Asia and their diasporas. The festival opens at the Barbican with a 4K restoration of Taiwanese queer classic The Outsiders, while the wider programme includes South Korean drama 3670, Thai satire A Useful Ghost, Sundance 2025 winner Cactus Pears, Singaporean drag comedy A Good Child and Joan Chen-starring diaspora drama Montreal, My Beautiful. Screenings and events are happening at spots including BFI Southbank, ICA, Rich Mix, Rio Cinema, Genesis and the Museum of the Home, so there’s plenty to get stuck into beyond opening night too.
