Punk political activists Pussy Riot have launched their own resistance-inspired clothing line with all profits going to support Mediazona. Their independent media outlet run in conjunction with Russian journalists working outside state-sanctioned channels. Pussy Riot first started making clothing with It’s Gonna Get Worse, a collaboration with Russian hip-hop group Kultrab and Krovostok, at the end of 2017. Now they’ve dropped a new collection of t-shirts, badges, socks and balaclavas inspired by the young people that have been protesting on the streets of Russia.
As Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova has said, “T-shirts and masks that we made are inspired by those people who’ll eventually and inevitably make their revolution in Russia. (Because) Russia belongs to them too, not to Putin exclusively.”
