Dalston’s about to get a whole lot sweeter as The Proof is launching its first standalone site in the nabe this month. Since launching, Francesca Strange (the brains behind The Proof) has been bringing pudding to Londoners via her online shop, gaining a rep for her stylish cakes and indulgent profiteroles. Now, The Proof’s IRL iteration will come as a bakery, coffee shop and dessert bar where guests can brunch, shop for gifts and (of course) enjoy some of Strange’s signature bakes.
The all-day spot will offer the likes of Flying Horse Coffee, pastries, breakfast cakes, avocado on toast, sausage rolls and the brand-new savoury profiterole sandwiches, all to eat in or take away. There’ll be a build-your-own Profiterole Bar with a selection of fillings, sauces and toppings, as well as a cake shop serving cake by the slice, cupcakes and whole cakes to go. And a retail area will stock hampers, cards, flowers, books and wine – sounds like it’ll be a one-stop shop for celebrations.
