PRETTY DECENT BEER CO IS OPENING A SECOND TAPROOM

Walthamstow’s Blackhorse Beer Mile’s about to get a little longer with the addition of Pretty Decent Beer Co’s second brewery and taproom, set to open this December. Originally launched back in 2017 by husband and wife duo James and Sarah Casey, the Co became the city’s smallest commercial brewery with their OG site next to Wanstead Heath – a space that they’ve since outgrown. The new, larger taproom will feature a state-of-the-art 1500-litre brewhouse alongside 20 taps of freshly brewed beer and in-house food pop-ups.

The brewers have been rated for their creative take on beer (think beer slushies and matcha infusions) and have become known for the playful, tongue-in-cheek names they give their beers – a particular favourite being the Session IPA titled ‘I Could Get Better At T*sco For a Quid’ after an early Google Review. And for as long as they’ve been around, giving money to good causes has been a key tenet of the business. For every pint, keg, can and bottle these guys sell, they donate to charity with the odd special initiative (like their ‘RESIST’ brew, a ‘Ukrainian anti-imperial stout’, 100% of every sale of which went towards the Red Cross humanitarian fund) thrown in too.

The offering at the latest Pretty Decent taproom will be more diverse than ever, with the new facilities allowing them to brew twice as much beer, and the range will include alcohol and gluten-free draughts, alongside cider and a rotating wine list. They’ll also welcome local food vendors for regular residencies, kicking off with Walthamstow’s It’s Not Big Dough whose selection of Neopolitan-style pizzas will be the ideal accompaniment to beer. To celebrate launch weekend, all core beers will be available for just £4 a pint and there’ll be DJ’s spinning all weekend, classic taproom games and the chance to win big in their Beer Wheel of Fortune. Cheers!
