all points east festival coming to victoria park
Field Day may be moving out but Vicky Park isn’t going without a festival next year as All Points East are moving in and it sounds MEGA. The ten-day event includes a three-day festival, a free midweek entertainment programme and a series of three massive headline shows. The xx, Lorde, Beck, LCD Soundsystem, Bjork, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Flying Lotus, Glass Animals, Richie Hawtin, Sampha, Father John Misty, Popcaan, Lykke Li, Young Fathers, Django Django, Tom Misch, Kojey Radical, Kelela, Abra, Maribou State, Stefflon Don, Soulwax, Justice, Hercules & Love Affair and more have all been confirmed for the festival portion of APE so far, with The National, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds all headlining one of the standalone shows.
APE is also shaking it up in terms of staging too with the X Stage, where DJs like Shanti Celeste, The Black Madonna, Hunee and Omar-S, will play in the round to deliver a properly immersive sound experience, making its debut this summer. And Despacio, the bespoke soundsystem created by James Murphy and 2manydjs will be in residence for the full three days too. The midweek programme, called In The Neighbourhood and happening between APE and APE Presents, will also be bringing a street food market featuring traders like Biff’s Jack Shack, Butchies and Kalimera, pop-up bars, an outdoor cinema, Hackney Arts creative workshops, circus performances, yoga classes and more to Vicky Park and it’ll all be FREE. They’re even doing a special All Points Equal day on the bank holiday Monday, celebrating 100 years of votes for women with themed film screenings, a suffragette rally and a women’s rights Q+A panel. It’s looking like we’ve got a new fave festival…
