Last week, pop-up foodies, Platterform found themselves an exotic new home at the Hackney Empire bar, Stage 3. So while it’s sunny, pop on a Hawaiian shirt and shimmy on down there! Much like their usual pop ups, there’s a cracking menu of food and cocktails. We delved in to salt fish fritters with scotch bonnet mayo, BBQ baby back ribs, jerk squid served with papaya salsa and, and, and..we could go on about the food for days.
All plates were washed down with beers on tap from local supplier Crate Brewery and Caribbean inspired cocktails. The ‘Homeboy’, a homemade SoCo cocktail served in a brown paper bag was full of ghetto charm. Other faves include the ‘Jamm & Kamm’ and the ‘Jerk n Stormy’.
Food and booze isn’t all these guys have on offer, the new creative hub in Hackney will be serving coffee courtesy of BLACKBOX from 8am Monday to Friday. They’ll be hosting plenty of events including a weekly Sunday wind down session, Chi & Tea, offering yin and yang cocktails, a dim sum cart along with a geisha lady swaying about the gaff pouring spiced tea. What more could you ask for?
You can pretty much rock up to Stage 3 any time, any day and with that in mind, we think it just might be cocktail o clock!
