plastic-free supper club

Plastic waste is a huge problem and a hot topic right now, especially in the food and drink business, where coffee cups and plastic straws are coming in for particularly heavy criticism. To raise awareness about plastic use in the food biz, chef Rose Lloyd Owen is putting on a special plastic-free supper club, along with some of her friends.

The five course meal will be cooked in an entirely plastic-free kitchen featuring dishes by Anna Barnett; Tom Hunt (an amuse bouche of Dorset rock oyster, lychee and black garlic); Jasmine Hemsley (braised gem wedges served with fennel seed and sesame gomashio, and anchovy carrot top chutney); Rose (wood pigeon, rhubarb labneh, pistachio dukkah & pickled gorse flowers); and Chantelle Nicholson (dark chocolate mousse, cocoa nibs, passionfruit and chamomile) .

There will also be a panel discussion on the environmental impact of plastic with speakers from Keep Cup and Boomerang Resources joining Rose and Tom, and diners will be encouraged to make a ‘plastic pledge’ like quitting the use of plastic bags, straws or coffee cups. Not only will you get a great dinner, you’ll be supporting a great cause too.
