Pizza Pilgrims is turning 10 and celebrating with a huge party at Camden Town Brewery
It’s been 10 years since brothers Thom & James Elliot embarked on the pizza pilgrimage around Italy in a Piaggio Ape van that led to the founding of Pizza Pilgrims, so it’s only right that the pair are going big for the milestone birthday celebrations.
The Pizza Pilgrims 10th birthday party is happening on 12th August at Camden Town Brewery, and not only are you all invited, you’re gonna be seriously well-fed too. You’ll be able to get four slices of the new limited-edition birthday pizzas, plus one extra of your fave AND then another slice of their secret pizza if you win at the pineapple shy. And that’s just the start, because there’ll also be a load of Neapolitan friggatoria (that’s fried foods FYI), limoncello and cherry negroni birthday shots, the new limited-edition Pizza Pilgrims Amalfi Lager, lemon sorbetto and pistachio affogato going around. In between all that eating and drinking, there’ll be brewery tours, pizza making masterclasses, cheese-pulling, lemon keepy-uppies, and DJs spinning throughout the day.
Earlier in the summer, the duo went back to Italy for a second pilgrimage around Naples on the Pizza Vespa, officially the world’s smallest pizzeria. On returning, they created eight new Napoli-inspired dishes for the Pizza Pilgrims menu based on the chefs, suppliers, and restaurants they met along the way. They include the Margherita Extra-Extra, a souped-up marg with Datterini tomatoes, burrata & fresh basil pesto, inspired by Naples legend Gino Sorbillo; the Americana, a nod to the city’s love of American culture, with a bechamel base topped with mozzarella, French fries & chopped-up frankfurters; and the Carbonara, with crispy guanciale, Pecorino Romano, al dente spaghetti, egg yolk & mozzarella, and you’ll be able to try them ALL at the birthday party.
