piraña opens in balham

Brothers Alastair and Nicholas Heathcote, the pair behind The Imperial Durbar, The Hill Station in Tooting and Dalston’s La Cabina, have opened South American bar and restaurant Piraña in Balham. The menu draws inspo from across the continent, with dishes including feijoda, Argentinian ribeye, tuna tacos and quinoa croquetas, and pisco featuring heavily on the cocktail list. The brothers worked with design studio Sella Concept (who also did Omar’s Place in Pimlico) on the interiors, who have decked out the space in a retro mix of blue and red, a curved bar with secret snug, a banquette-lined raised platform and private booths in the back room, with everything apart from the chairs and the lights being custom-designed for Piraña. Sounds insta-worthy to us.
